Welcome! I am very excited to encourage and teach you through your Pilates journey, regardless of where in your journey you are currently experiencing. All levels are welcome! I have a strong passion for helping people and a compassionate nature. My clients’ safety, awareness and comfort are my first priority at all times. I am enthusiastic about using movement to maintain and create lasting change in bodies that have suffered injury or trauma. I am also very dedicated to helping you learn to use your body to prevent future injuries.
My interest in the human body and it’s mechanics has developed over the past 12 years. I originally trained as a remedial massage therapist, have worked with many Osteopaths and studied a Bachelor of Clinical Sciences degree majoring in Human Structure and Function at Southern Cross University.
I was inspired to study Pilates after it helped with my chronic back and neck pain following injuries. I know first-hand how Pilates can help a person take back control of their body and free them from dependence on treatment. I am really excited by this feeling of independence and hope others will find it as fulfilling as I do.
I take a special interest in the detail and anatomy of movement techniques. During my work I have found it incredible to see people discover for the first time how a slight alteration to movement can make such a difference to a full body experience.
After 5 years developing my skills as a pilates instructor in Melbourne, I have returned to Ballina NSW to offer my services from my home studio. I will be offering private classes only while we build my new, more spacious studio. I have worked with many body types, and some special interest areas include:
SCOLIOSIS– I have completed level 1 and 2 Scoliopilates courses with Helen New. While I develop my skills working with scoliosis I will be offering a special price for those with scoliosis who are open to exploring how their body responds to various positions. Contact me for more information.
TRADESPEOPLE: I have a special interest in helping “tradies” I worked with a lot of tradies in Melbourne, and found that their bodies have an exceptional response to being taught appropriate movement mechanics. The response of someone who has such an active job is very rewarding for both client and instructor, due to being able to immediately put these movements into practice at work.
CHRONIC PAIN: As someone who is diagnosed with both Hypermobile Joints and Fibromyalgia I know first hand chronic pain affects the body. I have worked very hard at exploring a wide variety of options, both traditional pilates and other methods to be able to help you overcome debilitating pain and live a more functional life.
BACK AND HIP ISSUES: I have undertaken mentoring with Lisa Jackson, who specialises in hip and lower back issues for 5 years now. I completed her one year mentoring course, and regularly have mentoring sessions for complex cases. I also have an L5-S1 disc compression so have personal experience in rehab work as well.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like to book in for a class.
